So what is worse, to say you're a geek and thought they were funny, or to say you're not a geek, because you didn't understand them, and imply that you are actually just stupid?

I laughed as well. I think most people who are on a blog site are smart enough to at least "get" the jokes. Maybe not some libs, but most people.
