I can't believe Christmas is already right around the corner! Hubby and I are making our lists (and checking them twice) and I have two friends who I need some gift ideas for.
Both of them are dog owners (one has two cockers, the other has a Weimaraner) and both are pet-lovers.
These are my two best friends from high school, by the way, and we usually spend about $20-30 on each other for the holidays. I normally get them a couple of good books, but I want to do something different this year.
As I am not a dog owner (yet!!), I wanted some of your suggestions and ideas on cute gifts for dog owners/pet lovers.
Thanks!
sweatyBetty
Off the top of my head, I would say pretty collars. (Oh, don't get any rawhide bones...I hear they are NOT good for dogs.) Toys...especially balls. Halo's favorite toy are balls. Cute leashes, come to mind (but you want a matching collar). I wouldn't get them clothes...unless the dog likes them and wears clothes already. I don't put clothes on Halo because, I know he would hate it (plus, he's really furry...so he would probably get hot.) Maybe, some of those adorable gourmet treats for dogs. I'll keep thinking.
1Thanks!
2Ooh, also think of what pet "mommies" want and need!
3Go to a "Boutique" pet store. Not one of the major chain stores, but a small locally owned cute pet store. Talk to the cashier, who is generally also the owner. They can direct you to some GREAT gifts right in their shop. We shop at one because our one dog has sensitive skin and I have to wash her with a specific shampoo or she breaks out something awful. While there I saw one thing I'm buying kind of for the dogs, but also for hubby. It was a sweater, leash and harness set with the Seattle Seahawks on it. He's going to L O V E it! (So will the dogs LOL)

Bring them a basket of kittens
j/k
5i want a Peticure! It's this $20 gadget you can get at CVS or Walgreens and it's a rotary file for their nails. Keeps you from having to cut them, and hurt their widdle paws by accident. Of course you could also terrify them with the buzzing rotating nail file...
6Etsy.com has a lot of cute bowls, leashes, collars, doggie gift sets, you name it. They're unique, affordable, and there's a HUGE selection.
7OOOOOOOOH! My favorite little privately owned doggie "boutique" is online!

I LOVE this place! I spend wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much money there. Go figure, I hate shopping but will shop OODLES for my dogs. LMAO

Pig ears!
9What I would love would be more pet carrying bags...in different colors. I need to get a black and a brown one badly...so it will match my winter clothes. But, I guess Cocker Spaniels don't need those. Is a Weimaraner a small dog? I can't remember...I'm thinking they're thin and on the small to medium side? Also, dog beds...the pillow like ones that match the interiors of different rooms (where ever you think your friend would place it). Picture frames to place their doggie pictures...again try to match their decor. I'm going to check out Mykie's link.
I really like Mykie's idea of some really nice shampoos and stuff. I would get an Oatmeal shampoo.
Grandpa,
My dog looks like a small cat, from behind when he is sitting down. I bet he would
love to play/not hurt a bunch of kittens or maybe just one.
10Oh, you could get both Mom and dog...matching sterling silver monogrammed heart charms. One for you friend to put on a charm bracelet...you could even get a sterling silver charm bracelet, too. And the other one would obviously be for the doggies collar. (I would think you could get in sterling silver..two hearts monogrammed, and bracelet for $30.00) (Btw., I'm talking about the plain charm bracelets and charms that look like what Tiffany's sell...probably in white gold, though. Actually, I believe they have them in silver. But don't get them there...it would be way out of budget.)
11These all sound like great ideas! sorry I have nothing to add - hope you find something for your friends
12These are all such fun suggestions I feel boring posting mine. I heard on the radio yesterday a practical gift for your dog loving friend is a big bag of their dog food of choice. Not fun, but you know it would be used.
13Good call, Lazybones! That big bag of Iams large breed is $37 here.
If someone wanted to get Lucy a present, I'd say she likes any assortment of treats (cheap), and stuffed squeaky toys (sort of cheap). She destroys one of those about once a week, ripping them open and removing the stuffing peice by peice. Then she extracts the squeaker, chews it up, and deposits it in my chair or in the bed. That way I can be momentarily disgusted by the mangled, slobbery, barely identifiable peice of plastic.
14How sweet of Lucy to bring you a present!
15Kris, Lucy is just sharing.
16If you google dog catalogs, you will get all sorts of links that might give you some ideas. I was on one site that had Christmas stockings shaped as dog paws. If you plan on giving the gift to your friend before Christmas, that might be a cute idea.
Here's the link to the dog stockings: http:// www.jbpet.com/christmas-stockings-for-dogs.html
17Kris? Is Lucy a rescue? Because I believe I may have her siblings, for we have the EXACT same issue in our house! LMAO
