I just have to say that I watched Neil Cavuto tonight and was so excited to hear the bit on John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, because of the blog he posted regarding health care. So... When I was in college in a fine *ss little town in Texas called San Marcos (where we majored in 'party'), a friend of ours' brother had this little hole in the wall (or should I say 'whole' in the wall) health food dive ~ they served organic stuff and smoothies, etc. You got it. "Whole Foods!" If only I'd had the insight to invest back in the day... So, if you have a Whole Foods in your neck of the woods, support them!!

no don't- the WF PR department sent out apologies for the article. I am currently in a back and forth with Reid Shwartz, Customer Communications Team.

I was excited to read the original editorial, too, cc!
2Sam, what? It's a big deal in the Austin Statesman right now, according to my college roommate who lives there. What's going on??

I really liked the original editorial, too, cc! I definitely support Whole Foods, it is where I do a good portion of my grocery shopping.
Sam, give us the scoop on this back and forth! I wanna know what they are saying! I was really disappointed to see that the PR team "apologized"....but what can you expect these days? People freak out over everything - I was disappointed to hear that a group called for a boycott of WF based on the original editorial. The PR team was trying to do "damage control". I thought that was silly - even if I didn't agree with everything he had to say, I support his right to say it....
5Okay what I was going to post before Sugar so rudely switched formats and booted me off was:
6I am in a back and forth with a Reid Swharrtz from the Customer Communications Team who again apologized to me for my "offense" taken at the article. I pointed out he had re-offended me by not actually reading my issue and then apologizing in a form letter. Especially since I supported the original op-ed and was only offended by the WF PR team apologizing. Since he was going to forward my original letter to their executive leadership team i asked him to forward my new comments as well and have one of them call me.
Keep us informed of what happens, ok? I really hope someone really contacts you (not just sends you some lame form letter!)!!
7Sam: How was is phrased? There's a big difference between "sorry you were offended" and "sorry we said it".
They may well be inundated with calls and e-mails at the moment, and a lot of the volume may be delegated to lower-level staff. The lefty-mob is out in force recently, viciously attacking anyone who doesn't worship at the shrine of Obama.
8I'm all for healthy eating but the "Organic" thing I can't get behind. It's a hoax IMO.
You know a lot of Organic actually comes from other countries like China. Have you ever compared the nutrition facts labels of organic and non organic?
9Dear Samantha,
Thank you so much for contacting Whole Foods Market with your feedback about John Mackey’s op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal. We offer you our sincere apology for any offense caused by this article. John intended to offer his personal opinion, and was not advocating his views on behalf of Whole Foods Market or its team members. We are sharing all of the feedback that we have received about this article with our entire Executive Leadership team and we appreciate that you took the time to share your feelings with us. Again, we offer you our sincere apology, and hope to have your support of Whole Foods Market in the future.
10I agree that WF is under an onslaught of communication. It seems that the PR Dept. is glossing over.... John meant every word. What I loooove is that he lives in Austin, the very heart of liberalism and tree hugging in Texas. I'm diggin' it. (Do people still say "diggin' it??")
11And, I'll be in Austin over Labor Day and will see his brother. I'll get the real meal deal....
12tell him to call me so I can talk some sense in him and to fire Reid while he is at it.
13Sam, sounds like the form letter was written with all the b*tchy liberals in mind.
14Did it not occur to them that some of us might actually be supporting Mackey?
um I kind of mentioned that in my response
15Well, then I would be pissed, cuz it doesn't seem like they really READ your letter then!
16that's what i said to Reid
17I told him to have his executive leadership team call me.
How dare that right wing fascist make suggestions on how to improve the health care bill? Just because he takes only $1/year in salary and donates all his profits to charity (He thinks he has made enough money), was an early supporter of Obama, does not mean he is allowed to think for himself.
18When he calls me i will ask. That is if he dares to.
I have been known to make grown men cry.
19Sam: ^^ I'm not surprised.
20Laine, neither am I! You have to watch out for Sam...she can be dangerous!
21but she's just a cute lil blue mouse...
22a rose is beautiful but can make you bleed.
Besides it's their guilt that really makes they cry - i just point it out.
23
24I'm glad to be on her side myself!!!!
25if you see his brother tell him to ask for reid's email to me and my response. The BBC has images of those idiot liberals protesting.
